Originally built in 1913 as a YMCA boarding house, this 18,000 square foot, 17-unit apartment project utilized state and federal historic tax credits and the State of Kansas Moderate Income Housing Grant Program.

Project Hurdles
The old YMCA building had seen numerous renovations over the years as the mission and needs of the YMCA organization changed from housing (boarding house) to education (pre-school) to recreation (racquetball, gymnastics, weight room). To restore the building to it's historic use (residential) while maintaining compliance with the extraordinary requirements of the State Historic Preservation office was a challenging and rewarding experience for Pomeroy Development.
